Falconfinance collateral
· updated
Falcon Finance issues USDf, its synthetic dollar, against eligible digital assets. Its collateral framework covers stablecoins, non-stablecoin cryptoassets, and tokenized real-world assets that it specifically approves. Asset valuation and the minting method determine the USDf issued, the collateral commitment, and the conditions for recovering it. Direct minting requires an approved account and applicable identity and jurisdiction checks.
Eligible assets and minting value
Falcon Finance's token explainer, updated 15 August 2025, lists USDT, USDC, and USDS as stablecoin collateral examples, alongside BTC, ETH, and SOL as non-stablecoin examples. Those examples aren't a permanent acceptance list. Falcon's Terms of Use, updated 11 August 2026, allow changes to eligible collateral, haircut ratios, and supported blockchains.
| Collateral parameter | Documented treatment | Applicable conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Stablecoin minting basis | 1 USDf per US dollar of deposited collateral value. | The token explainer updated 15 August 2025 describes this treatment for eligible stablecoins. The ratio is based on USD value. |
| Non-stablecoin backing | Collateral value exceeds the USDf minted; the surplus is the overcollateralization buffer. | The documented Classic Mint treatment uses this buffer. Innovative Mint has separate term and price conditions. |
| Tokenized RWA eligibility | A tokenized real-world asset qualifies as collateral only if Falcon approves it. | The 11 August 2026 terms permit haircuts, revaluation, suspension, or removal of collateral status. Asset-specific eligibility and transfer restrictions also apply. |
A haircut reduces the collateral value used to calculate USDf issuance. The minted USDf balance therefore doesn't describe the entire pledged position: any overcollateralization buffer remains part of the collateral backing that position.
Tokenized asset conditions
Tokenized real-world assets can be available through Falcon's platform without qualifying for USDf minting. Collateral approval is a separate determination, and access can depend on jurisdiction, compliance checks, and the asset's own holding or transfer restrictions.
The 11 August 2026 terms treat tokenized RWAs as assets issued by an RWA Owner or another third-party issuer unless the applicable product terms expressly state otherwise. Product-specific terms prevail for that asset where they conflict with the general terms. Settlement mechanics, redemption conditions, and asset availability can therefore differ between tokenized assets.
Collateral commitments and recovery
Classic Mint positions
Classic Mint's non-stablecoin claim route is tied to a particular locked position. Recovery requires enough USDf in the Falcon Account to cover the amount originally minted against that position. The documented claim options are the original collateral asset, USDT, or a mixture of both, with final amounts dependent on the selected option and prevailing prices.
Innovative Mint price conditions
Innovative Mint commits eligible altcoin collateral for a chosen Mint Term. The mechanism guide lists a $50,000 minimum in eligible non-stablecoin collateral to initiate an Innovative Mint. The Innovative Mint terms in the 11 August 2026 version describe durations of 90, 180, or 365 days, or another duration Falcon specifies. Participants must specify liquidation and strike prices, which determine the amount of USDf issued and the maturity outcome. They can't request redemption, withdrawal, or transfer of that collateral during the term. Falcon determines the applicable spot price using its selected market sources.
- If the spot price meets or falls below the specified liquidation price at any time during the term, Falcon can liquidate collateral without prior notice. The participant permanently loses rights to the liquidated collateral.
- For a position that hasn't been liquidated, a spot price above the specified strike price at maturity triggers additional USDf under the 11 August 2026 terms, which describe the amount as based on value above the strike. The Innovative Mint mechanism guide instead gives (strike price × collateral amount) minus USDf initially minted, leaving the applicable payout calculation unclear. The participant forfeits the right to reclaim the collateral.
- If an unliquidated position matures with a spot price between the specified liquidation and strike prices, recovery requires returning all USDf minted against that position within 72 hours of maturity. Missing that repayment window leads to liquidation.
The 72-hour window governs repayment for the qualifying Innovative Mint position. The documented claim process separately includes a seven-day cooldown before assets are credited to the Falcon Account, followed by withdrawal to a wallet. Processing and compliance checks can delay completion.
Account eligibility and collateral control
Direct collateral minting requires an approved Falcon Account and KYC or KYB identity verification, with wallet screening or whitelisting where required. The Terms of Use updated 11 August 2026 exclude U.S. Persons and include the United States and Singapore among restricted jurisdictions. Further location, sanctions, and product restrictions apply.
Innovative Mint also gives Falcon control over the pledged assets during the term. Its terms permit using, trading, lending, or re-pledging collateral and don't require Falcon to keep the exact deposited tokens. A return obligation may be met with equivalent assets of the same type and amount. Insolvency, counterparty default, or market conditions can prevent that return; the overcollateralization buffer doesn't remove these custody and recovery risks.
